Qualifications:
- Current Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification required, or ability to obtain certification prior to the first day of employment.
- One year of experience in pool maintenance, facilities, or aquatics operations - REQUIRED.
- Knowledge of pool chemicals, filtration systems, and safety standards.
- Ability to operate cleaning equipment and basic maintenance tools.
- Strong attention to detail and pride in facility presentation.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks as required.
Position Summary:
The Certified Pool Operator (CPO) / Pool Facilities Technician is responsible for the daily operation, cleanliness, and overall presentation of the club’s aquatic facilities. This role goes beyond pool chemistry and testing and includes hands-on pool cleaning, deck maintenance, and ensuring the aquatic environment meets all health, safety, and aesthetic standards. The ideal candidate takes pride in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming pool experience for members and guests.
Key Responsibilities:
Pool Operations & Water Quality:
- Maintain proper pool chemistry in accordance with local health department regulations.
- Perform daily water testing, chemical balancing, and recordkeeping.
- Monitor filtration, circulation, and pump systems; identify and report mechanical issues.
- Ensure compliance with all safety and regulatory requirements.
Pool & Deck Cleaning:
- Vacuum pools, skim surfaces, brush walls and tile lines, and clean pool gutters.
- Maintain cleanliness of pool decks, furniture, handrails, ladders, and surrounding areas.
- Power wash pool decks and hardscape areas as needed.
- Ensure trash is removed regularly and the pool area remains organized and presentable.
Facility Appearance & Readiness:
- Set up and maintain pool furniture, umbrellas, and equipment daily.
- Inspect pool area for hazards and address issues promptly.
- Maintain a visually appealing and member-ready pool environment at all times.
- Assist with pool opening, closing, and seasonal transitions.
Safety & Guest Experience:
- Support lifeguard staff by ensuring the pool environment is safe and compliant.
- Respond promptly to spills, accidents, or cleanliness concerns.
- Communicate effectively with management regarding facility conditions.
- Maintain a professional, service-oriented presence with members and guests.
Schedule Requirements:
- Flexible schedule with varying days and hours week to week.
- On scheduled workdays, employee may choose their start time but receive approval from Aquatics Director and Aquatics Supervisor.
